PORT TOWNSEND — Jefferson County’s only Superior Court judge has been hospitalized for cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy in Bremerton.
Thomas J. Majhan, 66, a 22-year jurist who was elevated by voters to the Superior Court bench in 2000, has been diagnosed with endocarcinoma in the lungs and back, Court Clerk Marianne Walters said Monday.
The diagnosis and hospitalization was a surprise to many friends and colleagues at the courthouse.
Several county elected officials and department heads went to Harrison Hospital in Bremerton to visit him Monday afternoon.
“He’s feeling better today,” Walters said Monday after seeing Majhan.

Someone from the courthouse will be visiting Majhan every day as he undergoes chemotherapy, Court Clerk Marianne Walters said.
