PORT HADLOCK — Jefferson County Sheriff Mike Brasfield announced his candidacy for re-election over the weekend.
“I had made the decision some time ago,” said Brasfield.
But, he said, he thought it was too early to announce his candidacy with the filing period not until late July.
“But the usual speculation had started to surface,” he said.
“It is my hope that by making this formal announcement now, I can continue to concentrate my time and energy on the operation of the Sheriff’s Office.”
Planning for the true election season that begins in the summer, Brasfield said, he has formed a campaign committee that will direct work to secure his re-election.
