PORT TOWNSEND — Any county money needed to help keep Fort Worden State Park free of parking fees should come through the Economic Development Council, county commissioners say.
Jefferson County’s three commissioners asked their staff Tuesday to contact the Economic Development Council to see if it could contribute cash to a Port Townsend Chamber of Commerce campaign aimed at offsetting the state parking fees.
“Our strategic plan says we support economic recruitment and retention,” said Commissioner Dan Titterness, R-Port Townsend. “And this is retention.
“That would be the appropriate way to make this support happen.”
