BRINNON — Newly appointed Jefferson County Commissioner Judi Mackey, D-Brinnon, says she won’t take office until August so she can collect retirement investments she made while serving as Quilcene school superintendent.
Mackey said Wednesday that her state retirement benefits aren’t jeopardized by going to work immediately after retirement, but she wouldn’t be able to withdrawal from an optional investment fund she contributed to.
The fund requires her to be unemployed for 30 days from June 30, the day she retired from the school district.
In a telephone interview from her home Wednesday, Mackey, D-Brinnon, expressed remorse that she wouldn’t get be able to start as the District 3 commissioner, filling the seat vacated by Wendi Wrinkle.
