With a mixture of excitement and nervousness — and likely mourning the end of summer — children throughout Jefferson County filed into the classroom Tuesday for the first day of school.
Students in the Port Townsend, Quilcene, Brinnon and Queets-Clearwater school districts started classes Tuesday.
Classes are set to start Monday in Chimacum.
“Students have been coming by over the last several weeks and saying ‘when is school going to start?”‘ Quilcene School District Superintendent Judi Mackey said Tuesday. “Everyone wanted to come back and see their friends.”
