Initial interviews are over and Gov. Gary Locke will sit down next week with some, if not all five, of the Jefferson County attorneys who have applied for the Superior Court judge position.
The governor will choose one on Feb. 27 to replace Thomas J. Majhan, who died while undergoing cancer treatment last month.
Seeking the position, which pays $108,300 annually, are Michael Haas, Karen Gates Hildt, William Henry, Rebekah Ross and Craddock Verser.
The judge selected by Locke will serve until the general election is certified in the fall.
Jennifer Joly, the governor’s general counsel, met with the five applicants on Tuesday.
The Jefferson County Bar Association later held a forum to allow its members to quiz the five contenders.
