PORT TOWNSEND — Jefferson Healthcare CEO Mike Glenn will receive an additional $5,657 in holiday cash after the payroll department failed to enact a 3.26 percent cost-of-living pay raise that was approved by hospital commissioners in January.
On Jan. 27, hospital commissioners approved raising Glenn’s annual salary from $229,486 to $236,983, retroactive to the beginning of 2015.
The raise was not enacted until after the Port Townsend & Jefferson County Leader asked Glenn when his salary was last increased, according to Rena Sleight, director of risk management.
Approved raise not implemented
Glenn believed the last increase was a 2 percent raise at the beginning of 2014 and sought to confirm this with the hospital’s human resources department, which then determined the approved raise was not implemented, she said.
According to his 2010 employment agreement, hospital commissioners “may periodically (but not more than annually) evaluate and adjust Glenn’s base salary for market competitiveness and other factors the board deems relevant and appropriate.”
Glenn is currently the highest-paid public official in Jefferson County.
