PORT TOWNSEND — Gov. Gary Locke won’t be involved in naming a commissioner to succeed Wendi Wrinkle, who is resigning because of health reasons.
Wrinkle, D-Shine, had only served five months. She represents the 3rd District, which includes the county’s western portion as well as Discovery Bay, the Gardiner area and area south of Chimacum.
Commissioners Dan Titterness, R-Port Townsend, and Glen Huntingford, R-Chimacum, originally said Locke would choose Wrinkle’s successor if they were unable to reach agreement.
But Deputy Prosecuting Attorney David Alvarez told them Monday that two decisions handed down by the state Supreme Court contradict that assumption.
Alvarez said Titterness and Huntingford will have 60 days to choose Wrinkle’s successor once her resignation is official.
