SHINE — Fred Hill Materials Inc. has filed its first permit application tied to its plan to construct a four-mile conveyor belt leading to a huge pier on Hood Canal.
The application calls on Jefferson County to perform an environmental assessment for the plan to transport sand and rock from the company’s Shine Pit to a 1,100-foot pier north of Thorndyke Bay.
Company land use attorney James C. Tracy filed the application late last Thursday.
County planners have 28 days to determine if the application is complete, Associate Planner Kevin Russell said Monday.
