Wendi Wrinkle’s resignation comes early enough in the year that the 3rd District commissioner seat will be put up for election in the fall, Jefferson County Auditor Donna Eldridge said Friday.
The appointee would serve as commissioner until general election results are certified Nov. 19.
The filing period to run for the remaining three years of Wrinkle’s term is from July 28 to Aug. 1.
Having the unexpected primary election this year will cost county taxpayers about $20,000, Eldridge said.
