PORT TOWNSEND — Jefferson County deputy prosecuting attorneys will get a 15 percent raise under a new salary schedule approved by county commissioners Tuesday.
The raise, commissioners said, will bring prosecutors’ salaries closer to those of their peers in comparable counties.
Under the new compensation system, top-level department employees will get increases ranging from $2,000 to $5,000 per year. Most mid-level employees will not see a change in their basic salaries.
All county employees will get an across-the-board 2 percent cost-of-living salary increase effective July 1 as a result of the compensation system.
But the salary increase will be offset, in part, by a requirement that county employees pay 10 percent of the cost of their health insurance plan, officials said. This is the first time they’ve had to pay the 10 percent.
