Peninsula Daily News

PORT TOWNSEND — The Jefferson County Democrats will hold their annual major fundraiser, Fish Feast XXII, Sunday at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.

Jefferson County Commissioner Phil Johnson will be in the spotlight along with many candidates running for office in the Aug. 2 primary. Johnson will leave office in January after 12 years of service and this is an opportunity to express appreciation.

Tickets for the dinner are $45 for adults, $15 for teens between age 12 and 18 and free for kids under age 12.

To buy tickets online, go to http://jeffcodemocrats.com and click on the fish drawing. The fairgrounds are located at 4907 Landes St., Port Townsend.

Tickets can also be paid for at the door; email info@jeffcodemocrats.com with the number of attendees and pay for the tickets when you arrive.

On the menu for the 4 p.m. dinner are salmon from Key City Fish, shellfish from Taylor Shellfish, bread from Pane D’Amore, beer from Port Townsend Brewer, wine from the Wine Seller, coffee from Sunrise Coffee, local greens and cake.

Besides an estimated 400 Democrats, also at the Fish Feast will be plenty of office candidates, including lieutenant governor candidate Sen. Karen Fraser, secretary of state candidate Tina Podlodowski, Supreme Court candidate Justice Mary Yu, state treasurer candidate Marko Liias, state lands commissioner candidate Hilary Franz and state auditor candidate Jeff Sprung.

For the 24th District, House candidate Rep. Steve Tharinger will be there along with Rep. Kevin Van de Wege, who is running for the state Senate, and Mike Chapman, who is running for Van de Wege’s House seat.

Tim Thomas, Cynthia Koan and Kate Dean, who are all running for Jefferson County Commission seats in District 1, are expected along with Commissioner David Sullivan, who is running for re-election in District 2.
