PORT HADLOCK — The Jefferson County Library is taking applications for an open position on its board of trustees.
The deadline for applications is Monday, Aug. 31.
Library Director Tamara Meredith said on Thursday that she had two applications in hand and was expecting another.
“So that’s about average,” she said.
The position was vacated in July by the resignation of a board member due to health reasons, Meredith said.
All of the five board positions are unpaid. The terms are five years, but the appointee to this position will fill an unexpired term and so will serve until April 2024.
Trustee positions are appointed by the Jefferson County commissioners.
Only residents of the unincorporated area of Jefferson County are eligible to apply. The library, which serves all of unincorporated Jefferson County, “strives to have representation from throughout the county,” Meredith said.
An interest in public libraries, knowledge of public finance and/or government, sound judgment, an ability to work cooperatively with others, and a commitment to public service are desired, according the library website at jclibrary.info
Applications may be submitted through the mail or online, and must be received by Monday.
Application forms and other information regarding this position are available online.
The library building at 620 Cedar Ave. in Port Hadlock is currently closed due to COVID-19 precautions, but it offers contactless hold pickups.
