GARDINER — An insurance company is seeking payment for losses in a fire last year that destroyed the Wild Birds Unlimited and Greywolf Angler stores.
Farmers Insurance Group has sent a letter to Jefferson County Fire Protection District No. 5 saying it wants to recoup losses resulting from the department’s response to a Jan. 31, 2000, fire at 275953 U.S. Highway 101.
District No. 5 Chief Ben Cooper confirmed the department received the letter, but declined to comment on what action the district will take.
