BRINNON — A Brinnon man who was wanted after allegedly breaking into two homes on Saturday is in custody, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said.
Jonathan M. Coccia, 44, was wanted for investigation of first-degree burglary, first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and harassment—threats to kill. He was taken into custody Sunday after deputies searched for him on Saturday, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies responded at 9 a.m. Saturday to a report of an armed man forcing his way into a residence in the Lazy C area of Brinnon, the sheriff’s office said in a press release. According to the initial 9-1-1 call, the suspect had made threats to kill, the sheriff’s office said.
After deputies arrived, they were told Coccia tried to flee the scene in a vehicle that wouldn’t start, according to the press release. Armed with a rifle, he went to a neighboring address, the press release said.
Deputies attempted to contact the residents at a second address, including loudspeakers and by telephone, but were unsuccessful, the press release said. Additional resources were deployed and the two occupants eventually exited safely.
They reported no sightings of Coccia and claimed to have been asleep during the incident, according to the press release. A search of the residence revealed a firearm on the rear porch. Neither occupant claimed to own it or knew it was there, according to the press release.
