PORT TOWNSEND — A man suspected of homicide in Kitsap County was found in Jefferson County and pursued into Kitsap County, where he was arrested, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Caleb Sloan, 29, was booked on Saturday in the Kitsap County Jail for investigation of second-degree murder, first-degree burglary, possession of a stolen vehicle, attempt to elude and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. He was still in jail on Monday, when a court date was scheduled.
Jefferson County deputies had been told that Sloan had been frequenting Jefferson County in a gray 1997 Acura. At about 2 p.m., Deputy Chad Wheeler, who was parked on state Highway 19, saw the car heading toward state Highway 104, the sheriff’s office said.
He followed it at a distance, waiting for other units to arrive, as it traveled on Highway 104. But as the car approached the Hood Canal Bridge, the driver began driving recklessly and performed evasive maneuvers, the sheriff’s office said.
Kitsap deputies assisted and eventually located the vehicle in Kingston, where the driver allegedly struck a van and fled on foot, later taken into custody in Kitsap County.
