Jefferson County officials seek public input for the comprehensive plan update through open houses and public hearings next week.
The county Planning Commission will conduct a Wednesday meeting at the Tri-Area Community Center, 10 West Valley Road, Chimacum and a Thursday meeting at the Quilcene Community Center, 294952 U.S. Highway 101, Quilcene.
Both will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Comments may be made during the hearings; mailed to Community Development, 621 Sheridan St., Port Townsend, 98368; or emailed to the commission at PlanComm@co.jefferson.wa.us by close of business Friday.
Plan documents can be viewed online at the county Department of Community Development website at www.co.jefferson.wa.us, or at the department’s office.
The plan serves as a 20-year blueprint for responding to community housing, economic development, parks and recreation, utilities, and transportation needs, as well as stewarding natural and environmental resources.
It also plans for expected population growth by the year 2038 and provides decision-makers with the foundation of policy needed to make decisions.
Following community input, the commission will develop revision recommendations to be considered by the Board of County Commissioners, after which another comment period will occur, according to a news release.
