EYE ON JEFFERSON: County commissioners to consider critical areas ordinance

City council to hear housing code proposals

The three Jefferson County commissioners will conduct a public hearing on the critical areas ordinance at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The special meeting will be in the Superior Courtroom at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

The hearing is on a proposal to repeal and replace chapter 18.22 of the county code.

At 9 a.m. Monday, during their regular meeting, commissioners will hear a briefing from the Association of Washington Cities.

The meeting will be in commissioners’ chambers at the courthouse.

Association of Washington Cities CEO Peter B. King and Program Manager Brian Bishop will provide commissioners an update regarding the retrospective rating pool program and a 2016 rebate along with annual ratings for Jefferson County.

Commissioners also will consider a resolution to adopt a social media policy.

Items on the consent agenda include the authorization of public infrastructure grants, including a $300,000 request from the city of Port Townsend for a regional stormwater facility, and an agreement with Olympic Peninsula Construction, Inc. to replace the courthouse boiler for $350,000.

It also contains an agreement for a lease for the use of the office suite at the south end of the Brinnon Community Center by Hood Canal Adventures, Inc.

Port Townsend city

The Port Townsend City Council will consider a second reading of an ordinance to grant a franchise agreement with Wave Division III, LLC when it meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The meeting will be in council chambers at historic City Hall, 540 Water St.

In new business, council members will have a first reading of the parks, recreation and open spaces plan; and they will be briefed on proposed housing code amendments.

Port Townsend schools

The Port Townsend School Board is scheduled to meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

The meeting will be in room S-11 at the Gael Stuart Building, 1610 Blaine St.

An agenda was not available by Saturday.

Quilcene School Board

The Quilcene School Board will have a work study session when it meets at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The board will meet in Room 9 at 294715 U.S. Highway 101.

Public Utility District

Jefferson County Public Utility District commissioners will review a water and sewer fee schedule when they meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be at 63 Four Corners Road.

New business items include reviewing a broadband presentation, the agency’s financial policy, its procurement manual and updates to its travel and credit cards.

Fire District 3

Clallam County Fire District 3 commissioners will discuss their 2019 financial report when they meet on Tuesday.

The meeting will be at 1 p.m. at station headquarters, 323 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim.

Commissioners also will talk about their receipt of a tort claim.

The district covers the east side of Clallam County with a small portion in Jefferson County.
