One-hundred fifty years of Jefferson County history is on display in the County Courthouse.
Prepared by the Jefferson County Historical Society, the display commemorates the county’s sesquicentennial.
The exhibit in the lobby of the courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend, includes newspaper clippings, photographs and copies of old documents, all chronicling the rich history of a county born only 26 years after the death of its namesake, President Thomas Jefferson.
About 100 people filed into the courthouse late Friday for the unveiling of the exhibit.
And while the weather outside was less than pleasant, nothing got in the way of flipping the switch activating lights on the courthouse lawn, to put the 110-year-old courthouse — itself a key part of Jefferson County history — in the spotlight.
