In other fair news:

At a recent convention of the Washington State Fairs Association in Yakima, Jefferson County Fair board members unveiled the 2007 Jefferson County Fair theme, “Discover the Treasure,” and also claimed first prize in the convention’s costume contest.

The 70th annual fair will be divided into many separate departments, such as agricultural, floral and small animals.

To match the underwater treasure theme, each department at the fair will be decorated as a different school of fish or coral reef, with clues for fairgoers to pursue as part of a treasure hunt

The 2007 fair and treasure hunt will be held Aug. 10 to 12.
