QUILCENE — Planning issues in the Brinnon area brought the most heated comments during a debate Thursday night among candidates for county commissioner from that area.
Bob “Cougar” Garten, D-Shine, Pat Rodgers, R-Brinnon, and Mark Rose, D-Brinnon, are seeking the District 3 commissioner seat.
Garten and Rose will face off Sept. 16 in a primary election to determine who will challenge Rodgers on the Nov. 4 general election ballot.
Rose’s comments about a developer who wanted to build a golf course brought a strong response from Rodgers.
“Until we get done with that kind of talk, we’re not going to get anything done,” said Rodgers, his voice raised.
Garten said he thought the golf course was a good idea.
