PORT HADLOCK — A woman will be the next Jefferson County commissioner.
The county Democratic Party chose an all-female slate Tuesday night to fill the vacancy created when Democrat Wendi Wrinkle — the county’s first-ever female commissioner — resigned for health reasons last month.
Democratic precinct officers nominated Peggy Ann Bierbaum, Viviann Kuehl and Judith Kay Mackey.
One of the three will be selected by the remaining two county commissioners — both Republicans — to fill the 3rd District position through this year.
