SEQUIM — A concert celebrating jazz artist Craig Buhler’s album, “Capistrano Sessions,” is set for this Friday at the Dungeness Schoolhouse, 2781 Towne Road.
Along with Buhler’s ensemble, the band known as Witherow, featuring Abby Mae and Dillan Witherow, will appear in the 7 p.m. performance.
Admission is a suggested $10 donation — or free for students.
The nonprofit Peninsula Friends of Music Performance organization is the presenter.
“Capistrano Sessions,” released in 2007, is one of Buhler’s nine albums.
Joining him for the Dungeness Schoolhouse concert are trumpet and vibraphone player Brian Atkinson, pianist Mark Schecter, bass man Ted Enderle and drummer Howard Gilbert, who moved to Quilcene after a career with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra.
Buhler, a player of saxophones and clarinet, is known for his work directing the 17-piece Stardust Dance Band while playing in various other jazz outfits on the North Olympic Peninsula.
He also leads the two big bands at Camp Heebie Jeebies, a summer program for high school musicians at Lake Crescent, and another ensemble at the spring Northwest Big Band Workshop in Port Townsend.
As for Witherow, the pair specializes in vocal harmonies, guitar styles and original compositions in the folk-rock realm.
