Sticking with a recommendation from the Jefferson County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, county commissioners on Monday named 16 acres near Chimacum Creek as Irondale Beach Park.
The park has about 3,000 feet of shoreline at the end of Moore Street in the Port Hadlock-Irondale area. The state Department of Fish and Wildlife owns the northern portion of the former log dump property.
Warren Steurer, county parks manager, told the commissioners that two other names — Iron Mill Park and Irondale Waterfront Park — were considered by the advisory board. But the panel determined that most local residents called it Irondale Beach Park.
