PORT TOWNSEND — Susan Smith was supposed to be out of her rental home on Thursday, but since she can’t move into her trailer at 909 Rosecrans St., she has nowhere to go and she awaits an eviction notice, she said Friday.
The travel trailer she had intended to move into is the object of scrutiny by the State Patrol crime lab.
It was impounded last week and moved from the Rosecrans Street in Port Townsend to a secured area at the Kuhn Street sewage treatment plant, where crime lab investigators are looking for signs that a crime was committed in it.
On Oct. 22, the Port Townsend Police Department declared the trailer and the area around it a crime scene, but declined to say what crime it was investigating.
Port Townsend Police Sgt. Ed Green said Friday he does not expect to be able to release any information until sometime this week.
Smith said Friday she was told the trailer would not be available for at least a couple of months.
The trailer had been purchased recently, and the owner is not considered a person of interest, Green has said.
King County Search and Rescue dogs trained to locate missing persons and human remains sniffed the area last week after it was taped off from the public.
The investigation was launched in response to statements from a couple in Port Townsend, Green said.
