PORT ANGELES — Womanfest and Olympic Cellars Winery will host their 16th annual International Women’s Day celebration on Wednesday.
Open to the public, the event will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Olympic Cellars, 255410 U.S. Highway 101, between Port Angeles and Sequim.
The suggested donation for a dinner of homemade soups, fresh bread and cookies is $10.
No-host wine also will be available.
Proceeds will be donated equally to two nonprofits — Rose House, a home in Port Angeles operated by Healthy Families of Clallam County for women and children escaping domestic violence, and the Women’s Refugee Commission, an international agency dedicated to protecting displaced women and children.
Short presentations will be presented about both nonprofits.
International Women’s Day on March 8 is a global celebration of the economic, political and social achievements of women, past, present and future.
Womanfest is a 37-year-old Port Angeles-based charitable organization that sponsors community events and an annual fall retreat.
It also provides financial support for women-centered projects, including annual donations to woman-focused causes and scholarships.
