OLYMPIA — Jay Inslee will be inaugurated as Washington’s 23rd governor in the Capitol Rotunda this morning.
The ceremony starts at 10:30 a.m., and the inaugural speech is set for about 11:30 a.m.
Spokane Rep. Kevin Parker will give the Republican response to Inslee’s address shortly afterward.
Senate and House Republican leaders will hold a news conference right after that in the House wings to talk about their priorities for the session.
The public affairs network TVW will televise the activities, including Inslee’s and Parker’s speeches, on cable TV systems. A live feed will be available at http://www.tvw.org.
The Governor’s Inaugural Ball will take place in the state Capitol building at 7 p.m.
There will be music, dancing and entertainment — and food from the Washington State Chef’s Association as well as a special wine made just for the ball.
This year’s ball’s theme is a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Temple of Justice near the Capitol building.
