INNOCENT: When Robert Covarrubias lied to the court and world in 2006

Robert Gene Covarrubias wrote INNOCENT with a laundry pen across the jail jumpsuit he wore to his murder sentencing hearing in court in Port Angeles in 2006.

He maintained his innocence in the brutal death of Melissa Leigh Carter all the way to a retrial scheduled this year. But he has confessed to the murder, his defense attorney confirmed Monday.
