INDIAN ISLAND — Watching a loved one ship out on a Navy vessel for six months or longer isn’t easy.
Although Jessica Kaufman of Chimacum has shipped out aboard the USS Bridge before, sailing into the Strait of Juan de Fuca on Wednesday was a sad moment for her family.
All but one immediate family member came out to the Naval Magazine Indian Island ordnance center across the bay from Port Townsend to see her off.
“Gotta stay loyal to the family,” father David Keisling said.
