Icy roads caused three wrecks in central Clallam County within an hour of each other and delayed schedules at Quillayute Valley School District schools Wednesday morning.
Officials said single-vehicle wrecks were reported along Diamond Point Road at 7:40 a.m., Woodcock Road near the Dungeness River bridge at 7:49 a.m. and along Blue Mountain Road at 8:23 a.m.
The Diamond Point and Woodcock Road wrecks resulted in non-life-threatening injuries, said Patrick Young, spokesman for Clallam County Fire District No. 3.
Two people — one from each wreck — were taken to Olympic Medical Center by ambulance.
Young said he could not identify the people hospitalized.
The Blue Mountain Road wreck, a passenger car rollover involving two people, did not result in injuries, Young added.
Emergency crews said icy road conditions were factors in all the wrecks, Young said.
Forks schools
Quillayute Valley schools in Forks operated on a delayed schedule because of hail and icy roads, according to district officials.
The announcement was made to students and parents via an automated phone announcement system early Wednesday morning, by email and on the district’s website, www.forks.wednet.edu.
The transportation supervisor and superintendent make the decision to delay or cancel classes between 5:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. and begin notifications by 6 a.m.
On Wednesday, the district had no expectation for road difficulties expected today or Friday but said weather conditions may change.
