PORT ANGELES — Pat Neal will present “A Short History of Fishing” at the Clallam County Historical Society’s History Tales next Sunday.
The program will begin at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 7 in Port Angeles City Council chambers, 321 E. Fifth St.
Neal, of Sequim, is a fishing guide, a weekly columnist for the Peninsula Daily News, host of a radio show on KSQM 91.5 FM in Sequim, a historical planner and a storyteller.
“Neal’s stories have been described as a combination of Mark Twain and Garrison Keillor, delivered in a style that reminds you of Jackie Mason, Stephen Wright and Larry the Cable Guy,” said Kathy Monds, executive director of the historical society.
His stories are written from his research as a historian for the Washington State Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation, and from the life of a fishing guide on the rain forest rivers of the West End of the North Olympic Peninsula.
His History Tales presentation last year was so successful, members of the audience requested he be included in the 2010 schedule, Monds said.
