NEAH BAY — The state Department of Transportation will begin work Tuesday on fixing a 2-mile stretch of state Highway 112 near Neah Bay.
This effort is separate from the emergency contracts underway along Highway 112 in two locations that were closed due to landslides at Clallam Bay and Jim Creek.
The speed limit will be cut from 40 mph to 25 mph between mileposts 0.9 and 2.1, while flaggers alternate traffic. Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. most weekdays until July 1.
The area was damaged during heavy rainfall, snowmelt and high tides.
Maintenance crews will repair the westbound shoulder, rebuild the embankment and guardrail and make pavement repairs in several locations along the 2-mile stretch of highway.
They are putting into effect recommendations from DOT engineering geologists who surveyed the sites late January.
Real-time traffic information is available on the Washington State Department of Transportation app and regional Twitter account.
