FORKS — Quillayute Valley School Board Vice Chairman Paul Headley has resigned.
Headley notified Superintendent Frank Walter of his need to resign on Jan. 1, citing a change in his work schedule at the Clallam Bay Corrections Center, Walter said.
The board officially accepted his resignation at their regular meeting held Tuesday.
Headley could not be reached for comment.
“We’re definitely going to miss his input,” School Board Chairman Dave Dickson said.
“Paul has been a good member because he’s been a sounding board for the community.”
Headley was elected to the school board in 1999 and re-elected in 2003.
He served as the board’s Washington Interscholastic Activities Association representative, and recently replaced Dickson as its legislative representative.
Headley also was chosen by the board in December to fill the vice chair position left vacant by Sue Gibbs, who lost to Richard Gale in November’s general election.
“It’s going to put the board in a different learning curve than expected,” Dickson said about the combined loss of Gibbs and Headley.
“I know it took me about three years to get up to speed . . . to the lingo,” he said.
