HOODSPORT — Four people were injured, including a Brinnon man, in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 101 just south of Hoodsport that blocked the highway for about two hours.
Joshua C. Johansen, 45, of Brinnon, was in serious condition Monday at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.
Johansen was driving a Honda Accord south on Highway 101 at about 11:33 a.m. Sunday when his vehicle drifted into the northbound lanes, according to the State Patrol.
Johansen swerved his vehicle to the northbound shoulder to miss an oncoming vehicle, then swerved back toward the southbound lane and crashed head-on into a northbound Mazda that was driven by Bonnie L. De Leon, 33, of Olympia.
De Leon and two passengers, Jenith A. Doerr, 36, of Lakeside, Calif., and a 7-year-old girl from Olympia were all transported to Providence St. Peter as a precaution, the State Patrol reported. None was listed at the hospital Monday, and further information was not provided.
Both vehicles either fully or partially blocked the highway for about two hours, the State Patrol said.
The State Patrol reported it would recommend charges of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol for Johansen.
All the people involved were wearing seatbelts, the State Patrol said.
