OLYMPIA — Washington State Parks is looking for people who were affected by the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens.
State Parks is planning to collect stories of how this major event affected people as part of the efforts to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the May 18, 1980, eruption.
According to a press release, State Parks wants to record these stories before they are lost or forgotten.
Mount St. Helens stories can be shared in several ways: The Mount St. Helens Visitor Center has a sharing center where visitors can fill out contact information or complete a journal entry; a brief description can be sent via email to Silver.Lake@parks.wa.gov; or by calling 360-274-0962 to schedule an interview.
