PORT ANGELES — Sequim environmentalist Don Hatler won the three-man race for Clallam Conservation District supervisor Tuesday by an almost 4-to-1 margin.
Hatler unseated incumbent Supervisor Steve Marble, a Sequim real estate agent, 620 votes to 157.
A third candidate, Garret DelaBarre, captured 26 ballots, and former Supervisor Steve Johnson received a write-in vote.
The turnout was in vivid contrast to the 47 write-in votes that elected Bob Forde as supervisor last year in an election that attracted no announced candidates.
Sequim voters totaled 451.
In Port Angeles, 298 people cast ballots, and 55 people voted in Joyce.
Polls were open from 3 to 7 p.m. in Joyce, Port Angeles and Sequim.
However, balloting continued until 7:30 p.m. for voters who entered the polling place in Port Angeles before the poll closed. Voting ended in Sequim at 7:40 p.m.
