PORT ANGELES — Clallam County Democrats will present state Sen. Jim Hargrove with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2016 Franklin &Eleanor Dinner on Saturday, where state Attorney General Bob Ferguson will give the keynote address.
The dinner will be at Club Seven at 7 Cedars Casino, 270756 U.S. Highway 101 in Blyn. A meet-and-greet will start at 4 p.m. and the dinner and program will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Hargrove, a Democrat from Hoquiam, has represented residents of the 24th Legislative District for more than three decades. He will retire at the end of December.
Elected in 1985
Hargrove was first elected to the Legislature in 1985. He is now the ranking member of the Senate Ways and Means Committee, and the Human Services, Mental Health and Housing Committee.
“Hargrove has been a tireless advocate for the state’s most vulnerable citizens,” the county Democratic Party said in a news release, adding that he has “worked to expand access to early childhood education, support victims of domestic violence and ensure a reliable social-services safety net.”
He received the “2015 TANF Champion” award for his work to provide assistance to Washington families struggling with poverty. TANF is the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.
Other awards and recognition include the 2014 Silver Crayon Award, Early Learning Action Alliance; 2012 Legislator of the Year award, Washington Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs; 2012 Award of Appreciation, Child Welfare Advocacy Coalition; 2011, “Superhero for Children’s Environmental Health” Washington Toxics Coalition; 2008 Legislative Champion, Washington Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs; 2008, Champion for Children, Children’s Alliance.
Also, 2008, Washington State Coalition for the Homeless award for helping combat homelessness in Washington; 2007 Legislator of the Year for Washington State Medical Association; 2007 Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence award; and 2006, Environmental Champion, Washington Conservation Voters.
Ferguson is running for re-election Nov. 8 against Libertarian John Trumball.
As attorney general, Ferguson directs 500 attorneys and 600 professional staff providing legal services to state agencies, the governor and the state Legislature.
Advocate
He has been an advocate for consumers and taxpayers, veterans and military families, safe communities, the environment and responsible gun legislation, the county Democratic Party said.
