PORT ANGELES — A $20,500 grant from the Albert Haller Foundation will fund basic needs, counseling and medical and dental services for low-income students in the Port Angeles School District.
The Port Angeles Education Foundation is putting the money into the Student Needs Committee, the district announced last week.
The Haller Foundation has been a primary sponsor of the committee’s work since 1999 and remains a steadfast supporter of the foundation’s commitment to making sure need isn’t an obstacle to learning, the foundation said.
The committee awards funds through an application process monitored by school counselors and administrators.
It meets regularly to review applications and makes awards as funds are available.
Other major contributors to this fund include the Benjamin N. Phillips Foundation, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Worley, the Ben and Myrtle Walkling Memorial Trust, Strait Hand and Occupational Therapy, and First Federal.
