DES MOINES — Port Angeles was one of four gymnastic teams to qualify for this weekend’s state meet by taking fourth at the district meet at Mount Rainier High School.
It is the first time since the 1996 that Port Angeles gymnastics has qualified as a team for state.
Qualifying for state means the Roughriders will have six gymnasts competing in all four events at the state championship meet Friday and Saturday at the Tacoma Dome.
Joining them at state will be a pair of individual qualifiers from Sequim.
Port Angeles finished with a team score of 148.200 at Saturday’s district meet.
