PORT ANGELES — Ground will be broken for the Port of Port Angeles’ Composites Manufacturing Campus on Tuesday.
The ceremony at 2138 W. 18th St. in Port Angeles will be at 1 p.m.
The campus consists of 6.5 acres of the 123 acres of Airport Industrial Park. It will have three large composites buildings appropriate for both hot and cold composites-manufacturing processes.
The first building is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Angeles Composites Technologies Inc. signed a nonbinding letter of intent to lease the first building upon its completion to help with expansion.
The other two buildings could be leased by ACTI, other contractors who work with ACTI or other composites manufacturers.
On Monday, port commissioners approved a contract with 2 Grade to do the site work.
Once completed, the three pads will be building-ready.
The building configuration for the first building is still under review and has not been completed.
The site work is expected to be completed by July 1, said David Hagiwara, director of trade and development.
State and congressional representatives have been invited but have not yet confirmed whether they will attend the groundbreaking ceremony, Hagiwara said.
Gov. Chris Gregoire likely will send a representative from her office, he said.
The ceremony, which will last about 30 minutes, will be followed by refreshments.
