PORT TOWNSEND — Gov. Chris Gregoire is expected to visit downtown merchants to hear their concerns about ferry service during a brief campaign swing through town on Thursday.
“She wants to talk to residents firsthand to hear what they have to say about it,” said Debra Carnes, communications director for Gregoire’s campaign.
The first-term governor is on a 12-stop biodiesel bus tour throughout the state that began in her hometown of Auburn on Monday. It will end in Seattle on Friday.
The Democrat-dominated Port Townsend is her lone stop on the North Olympic Peninsula.
Gregoire will arrive at the Public House restaurant, 1038 Water St., to talk to supporters and answer their questions, Carnes said.
Doors will open at 9 a.m., according to Gregoire’s campaign Web site at www.chrisgregoire.com.
She will be greeted by Mayor Michelle Sandoval and other elected Democrats, said Carnes, adding that she may also address her primary issues, including the economy, jobs, health care, public safety and the environment.
