PORT ANGELES — Tensions and allegations of racism related to the Lower Elwha Klallam tribe and the shutdown of Port Angeles’ Hood Canal Bridge graving yard are expected to be discussed today by the city’s Community Multicultural Task Force.
Today’s meeting, open to the public, begins at 3 p.m. in the City Council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.
The 17-member committee chaired by Mayor Richard Headrick serves as an advisory group to the City Council.
Other items include discussion about a fund-raiser to bring a play about racial and political issues to Port Angeles and welcoming student ambassadors from Port Angeles’ sister city of Mutsu City, Japan.
