Grammy winners to perform at benefit concert for Captain Joseph House Foundation on Dec. 5 in Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — Grammy Award-winning artists Eric Tingstad and Nancy Rumbel will perform at the Gift of Giving benefit for the Captain Joseph House Foundation on Saturday, Dec. 5.

The dinner, concert, 12 Days of Christmas Silent Auction and Fund-a-Need will be from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at C’est Si Bon, 23 Cedar Park Drive.

Tickets are $80 each or $70 for veterans, active military or Gold Star family members.

Proceeds will go to the Captain Joseph House Foundation, which is creating a first-in-the-nation refuge for grieving families of fallen service members. Such families are known as Gold Star families.

Betsy Reed Schultz is converting the former Tudor Inn Bed and Breakfast at 1108 S. Oak St., in Port Angeles into the refuge in memory of her son, Capt. Joseph Schultz, who was killed May 29, 2011 in Afghanistan.

Remodeling the home began in June 2013. Organizers hope to see if ready for use late next year.

Tingstad and Rumbel first collaborated in 1985, recording their debut CD, “The Gift.”

Their holiday discography includes “Comfort and Joy,” “Star of Wonder” and “Peace on Earth.”

They won the Best New Age Grammy Award in 2003.

Tingstad’s latest ensemble release, “Southwest,” was nominated for a Grammy in 2007.
