PORT ANGELES — A lucky shopper at any one of almost 50 Port Angeles businesses this weekend could win a $5,000 shopping spree during a celebration meant to kick off the holiday season and showcase the best of what the city’s retail establishments have to offer.
Port Angeles’ 2014 Holiday Extravaganza began Friday and continues today and Sunday.
It is a thank-you to the loyal, local customers that make the city’s small businesses possible, said Edna Petersen, one of the organizers of the event.
The weekend celebration is also “a good opportunity to reintroduce folks to locally owned Port Angeles shops, what we have to offer and how cool we are,” said Petersen, who owns Necessities & Temptations at 217 N. Laurel St., a gift and department store.
Petersen said 47 businesses are participating in this year’s extravaganza, up from 34 last year.
Businesses will offer sales, surprises, refreshments and drawings for prizes — and participate in a raffle that will win one lucky shopper $5,000 in gift certificates.
