CHIMACUM — A 13-year-old girl was transported to Jefferson Healthcare hospital and a second passenger was injured after a pickup truck in which they were riding rear-ended by another vehicle.
Silas R. Riggle, 31, of Port Hadlock was traveling northbound in the 8100 block of state Highway 19 in a 1999 Chevrolet GMT-400 when the vehicle was hit from behind as he attempted to turn left into a driveway about 10:04 p.m. Monday, according to the State Patrol.
Jhony C. Vergara Sanchez, 34, of Port Townsend also was traveling northbound in a 1997 Ford Ranger when he rear-ended the Chevrolet, the State Patrol said.
Four people were riding in the Ranger, including Abileni Mujica, 31, of Port Townsend, who was injured but not transported from the scene, the State Patrol said.
A condition on the 13-year-old, whose name was not released because she is a juvenile, was not available.
All four people, including a 5-year-old boy in the Ranger, were wearing seat belts, the State Patrol said.
Riggle and his two passengers, Boone C. Garten, 31, of Hansville and Alan M. Hinds, 50, of Chimacum, were not injured. All three were wearing seat belts, the State Patrol said.
There was reportable damage to both vehicles, which were both driven from the scene.
Neither drugs nor alcohol were suspected in the crash, the State Patrol said.
The cause was identified as following too closely, the State Patrol said.
