PORT TOWNSEND — The winners of Aldrich’s Market’s 23rd annual Gingerbread House Contest were announced Saturday.
The contest, held at the market at 940 Lawrence St., began accepting entries on Christmas Day.
Fourteen creations were entered this year by the time judges made their selections.
“We usually get the same amount each year,” said Milton Fukada, co-owner with his wife, Renee.
First place for the 12-and-younger individual category was awarded to Fiona Skidmore for her model, “The Cottage.”
First place for the 12-and-under group category was awarded to Eva Brady and Alan Thostrud for their model, “Winter Wonderland Cottage.”
First place for the 12-and-older category was awarded to Cabett, Anora, Holly, Eric, Imants and Elsa — last names unavailable — for their model, “Even Trolls Need a Home.”
The Fukudas inherited the contest when they purchased Aldrich’s nine years ago.
“It is a tradition that has been brought on by past owners,” Renee said.
Renee said all of the entries were well done this year and was grateful to everyone who participated.
All entries will stay on display until Jan. 16, Renee said.
“This year, we kept it up a little longer so that everyone could get a good look at it, and it seemed to work out really well,” she said.
