GARDINER — Richard Quinnell leads Bob McCauley in the race for Gardiner Cemetery Commissioner position 3.
Three votes are all that separates the two first-time candidates for the position.
Results as of Tuesday night were McCauley with 63 votes, or 48.09 percent, and Quinnell with 66 votes, or 50.38 percent.
Jefferson County Auditor Donna Eldridge said it was unknown how many additional ballots would be arriving from Gardiner precincts 101, 102 and 103.
But she said about 600 additional ballots arrived Tuesday that have not been counted.
Eldridge also said she expects about 1,000 votes will arrive by mail on Wednesday.
The next count of ballots will be noon Thursday.
The position on the cemetery district board is for a two-year term.
