PORT ANGELES — A half-hour search in the Gales Addition area early Saturday morning found no one after a teenager had called 9-1-1 to say he thought three people were trying to break into his home.
The first of three Clallam County sheriff’s deputies arrived at a home in the 200 block of Fifth Avenue at about 11:58 p.m. Friday after the 15-year-old boy, who was home alone, told emergency dispatchers that three people he didn’t know were standing on the house’s front porch, said Sgt. Nick Turner with the Sheriff’s Office.
The teen thought they were trying to break in, Turner said.
Two other deputies searched the area around the home but did not find the three people the youth had described.
After searching for about a half-hour, deputies left at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday when the teen’s mother returned home, Turner said.
They found no evidence of a crime, he said.
“It appears this was handled without a report because there was no crime,” Turner said.
Turner said Saturday there had been no additional calls from the property or the Gales Addition area about possible break-in attempts, nor had deputies visited the home again.
“I didn’t see anything else related at all,” Turner said.
A Peninsula Daily News reader had said that people living in the area were curious as to why the search was conducted.
