PORT ANGELES – A full agenda that includes the future of the MV Coho ferry landing in Victoria, the provincial capital’s sewage treatment plans and the 2010 Winter Olympics awaits the Port Angeles and Victoria city councils during a joint meeting set for Friday.
Other agenda items include a “Two Nation Vacation” marketing proposal and a tourism strategic plan.
The meeting will begin at noon Friday in the Harborside Room at Downrigger’s Restaurant, 115 E. Railroad Ave., Port Angeles.
Before the meeting, the Port Angeles contingent will cross the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Victoria on the Coho and travel back with the Victoria officials.
A quorum of both bodies of elected officials is expected, but no action is to be taken.
The meeting was spurred by the mid-August release of the $100 million “Vision for Belleville” waterfront redevelopment proposal that would remove the terminal for the Coho international ferry from Victoria’s downtown waterfront.
The 341-foot-long Coho – operated by Black Ball Transport Inc., a U.S. business – can carry 1,000 passengers and 110 vehicles.
It operates year-round, crossing the Strait between Port Angeles and Victoria’s Inner Harbour.
