Two wrecks occurring almost simultaneously Friday morning west of Sequim were blamed for U.S. Highway 101 traffic tie-ups.
State Patrol Trooper Russ Winger said two wrecks — one involving three cars and a second with two — occurred at about 8:55 a.m., eastbound near Boyce Road.
Injuries were minor, Winger said.
Winger said that in the first wreck, Austin Wagner, 17, of Sequim, was driving a 1992 Toyota 4Runner which hit a Jeep Cherokee driven by Vanessa Indelitato, 35, of Port Angeles.
The Jeep was pushed into a 2001 Geo Tracker driven by Doris Fourtner, 80, of Sequim.
A second wreck occurred when Lydia Trejo, 69, was slowing her 2002 Camry and it swerved to the right, said Winger, striking a Ford driven by Carol Madden, 70, of Sequim.
While the highway was not closed, State Patrol reported the two crashes slowed traffic until the site was cleaned up.
